Rondo + Small Sided Game

Is there a better combination of drills for your players’ enjoyment as a rondo + a small sided game? What if we include this in a drill where you practice the transition, support, making runs to lose the defender, dropping back and regroup, the game pace and working on the passing lines?

Numerical Advantage and Zonal Marking

A partial structure with a specific work for the defensive players. What we used to do with boring and ineffective attacking actions against the defenders, we do it now with a useful and attractive game for the players.

Double Rondo

In this drill you will work on the change of pace, on passing the ball to attract de rivals and switching the play to the deliberated side and on choosing which the best moment for intercepting the ball is. All of these in a rondo that you can implement in U10 groups and older.

Extreme Transitions 3v3

To practice transitions in superiority will make your players look for safe finishing situations thoughtlessly and will make them think about the defensive transition. This is a drill that you as a coach will like a lot, a very useful drill.

Zonal Defense: Move forward or backwards

In every movement of the ball we do, the defensive situation changes. Did the ball go forward or backwards? Is the player on the ball pressed? Does he have options to pass the ball to a free player? These are some of the several decisions that we have to practice.

Positional Play – Third Man

It is a classical position drill which is used by different elite coaches like Klopp, Guardiola or Sarri. Quick decision making and little movements to create free passing lines at a higher speed than the real game. This will help your players to make the right decisions during the game.

The unhooked players are very important players in the offensive and defensive transitions, but, they are even more important in the vigilances previous to those transitions. We should practice how to use them to attack and how to defend them.

Conditioned Game: Defending in middle block

For a slow defender, the body orientation when facing a through ball is key in order to beat a faster forward. Your player’s mental quickness when making the right decision about the body shape will them improve against the through balls.
