One of the most important things when making a run to lose the defender and finishing is the right moment for making the run. With a simple rule, you will make your offensive players identify that moment in a drill which recreates a real situation.
In the offensive tactic, it might not be easy to combine width, finishings, overlaps and balance.
To defend in a coordinate way is key for the defensive success. With only a few simple references you will achieve right habits in your players such as defensive balance, a right distance between lines or the coordination to move forward or backwards.
It is not easy for a coach to teach the player which is the appropriate moment to make a run to lose the defender, to teach which is the speace where he has to run to, etc… what if you create a situation where the player is able to identify it and solve it by himself?
A partial structure which will require a lot of defensive and offensive tactical concepts, such as support, one-two’s, coverages, defensive exchange, press, body shape, defensive orientation, defensive and offensive timing etc.
Another offensive tactical drill to improve the position game (Guardiola, Sarri…). To play the ball facing the player who is about to receive it will allow the receiver to think before getting the ball and to speed the play up.
Position game in order to advance on the field. You will practice the right movements in order to get the ball and progress on the field. At the same time, we will practice de defensive coordination and to get in shape defensively in the right way.
To start the attack playing wide and to identify when a good moment is to play inside. To make a run in order to lose the markers in the right moment is key to finally get the ball or not.
We will practice ball conservation, width, game pace, change of pace, shifting, pressing, coverages and defensive coordination, all at the same time.
